The mirrors that come with your vehicle usually have blind spots that become significantly worse when you’re towing a trailer or camper. A good rule of thumb when towing a trailer, but perhaps not a practical one, is to make sure that you have a clear view of the entire trailer, as well as traffic behind it, so that you can predict what’s coming.
There are some states, such as Georgia and Illinois, with laws that may require you to have mirrors that allow you to see at least 200 feet behind you if your vehicle is towing a trailer. Towing can be a very stressful experience. It is important that you have a good pair of towing mirrors on your vehicle in order to give yourself the peace of mind and safety while driving. As a result of the blind spots on both the driver’s side and the passenger’s side, you will have a much clearer view of things behind you, allowing you to keep a safe distance on the highway. We’re going to continue our guide on finding the best towing mirrors for your vehicle, as we’ll cover everything you need to know in this article .I just installed towing mirrors on my Toyota Tacoma.
My 98 Chevy Power Visions look awesome.
If the Toyota Tacoma (98-00 chevy or 96-01 dodge) doesn’t have a mirror base plate, you can use the flip up towing mirrors from Dodge. Amazon.com is selling this item for $300 on their website.
I was able to mount the power vision mirrors on my Toyota Tacoma door just by Ovaling two out of the three mounting stud holes and by using stainless steel washers.
Since the mirror bases are different sizes, I used 3/8″ thick mud flap material to create a trim piece to match up to the dimensions of the Toyota Tacoma’s door and mount the mirror.
It appears the electrical wiring in the power vision mirrors was 4-wire (2 common wires) whereas Toyota Tacoma’s mirror adjustment was 3-wire (1 common wire). I was able to wire the mirror to my stock Toyota Tacoma mirror adjustment switch.
As I was taping off the power window circuit as I wanted to move the power vision mirrors in and out, I grabbed the in and out circuit from that.
Rather than cutting into the Toyota Tacoma’s stock interior, I installed the switch in an encasement box that fit right inside the subscription box.
Toyoda Tacoma should have offered a high quality pair of towing mirrors with the towing package, and now I have both for the sake of safety and better towing efficiency It’s not as simple as simply hooking your trailer or camper onto your vehicle and traveling. Towing a trailer or camper safely is a complex process. If you frequently carry a trailer on your vehicle, there is a good chance you will need a set of towing mirrors to handle the situation effectively. Many state laws actually require drivers to use trailer mirrors or towing mirrors on their vehicle to ensure that they can safely see the area around them while driving.
Editor’s Pick: Auto Dynasty
Another company that offers a comprehensive lineup of affordable mirrors is Auto Dynasty. Their offerings include powered mirrors with heated glass and telescopic mirrors which can be operated by hand. A part of the company’s product line range also includes fordable mirrors with integrated turn signals and they give certain applications just one mirror rather than a pair rather than charging for the pair. As a result of the reinforcement brackets inside of these mirrors, these are less prone to vibrating during the course of driving.
There is the possibility that some mirrors equipped with integrated turn signals will need a reflash in order for them to work properly.
In addition to offering mirrors for Toyota Tacoma and other vehicles, Auto Dynasty also offers mirrors for several other models.
If you want to purchase cheap mirrors, you can go to DEDC, which specializes in making mirrors for specific applications in the automotive industry. You can also purchase the company’s mirrors separately, which makes it a good choice if you want to purchase just one driver’s side mirror or one passenger’s side mirror. The company offers premium features such as power and heated mirrors that have integrated turn signals, which can be found at a lower price than some of its competitors. The DEDC company is a great alternative to the high prices from other companies if they have a towing mirror with your specific model and year.
The DEDC has approved applications for the Chevrolet Silverado and Toyota Tacoma.
A large range of applications and mirror types are available through SCITOO’s line of mirrors, similar to the products offered by ECCPP. Pricing is more affordable than some of the competitors in the market, making it an attractive option if you’re shopping on a budget. Some users on certain applications do complain about vibration and mirror distortion issues, while others say fitment is poor for their specific vehicle. Again, take a look at user reviews before making a purchase to ensure your specific vehicle doesn’t have any issues with the replacement mirrors.
There are many mirrors that SCITOO offers that are powered with heaters and have signal lights on them. Some trucks, like the Toyota Tacoma, are also available with manual extending options at an affordable price.
If you are looking for an affordable option that offers a limited selection of products, you should look into APS mirrors if you know they have the products you need for your car. Some of its mirrors are heated and telescoping, while others are power adjustable with LED turn signals. This company has some of the cheapest offerings available on Amazon, but these aren’t perfect products. Some users complain about limited adjustability on the power mirrors, while others mention vibration and distortion issues.
For those who do only limited towing, but want to replace their mirrors but do not want to spend a lot of money for them, the products offered by APS may be sufficient. If you choose to add them to your cart and check out, make sure you check out user reviews specifically pertaining to the application you are purchasing

They also come with a lifetime warranty, which isn’t very common in the segment.
