It is safe to use the Nuna Pipa in Canada since it has passed crash testing by its manufacturer and has been approved by Health Canada and Transport Canada. In addition to testing for quality, convenience, and value, we also examined the car seat’s ease of use and easy installation.
Parents and editors loved the easy installation of Nuna Pipa, and they found the instructions to be straightforward and helpful with plenty of pictures. Depending on whether your vehicle has standard width anchors (check the manual) or your vehicle’s seat belt, the base of the Pipa can be installed with the Universal Anchorage System (UAS) connectors. You will need to park your car on a level surface when installing the car seat.
Nuna promises five seconds for installation with its “True Lock” rigid UAS connectors, but it always takes longer the first time around-plus, the angle of the base may have to be adjusted so that the carrier sits at the right recline angle. The installation was as quick and easy as can be according to our testers and editors. With rigid UAS connectors, you won’t have to worry about tightening belts, and the green indicator lights up when you’re done (you should do a double check, though). The carrier must be clicked into place once you have secured the base and checked it for the correct angle. You should release the UAS connectors if the blue line on the carrier isn’t level with the ground, and place a tightly rolled Under the base, place a towel or noodle, cover the connectors with a blanket, and pivot the UAS connectors so they are clipped to the anchors again. (The UAS connectors will not pivot once they’re connected to the anchors.) With some car seats, getting this angle just right can take a little time and effort, but neither our editors nor testers encountered any difficulties this time around.
A few car seats allow you to attach both a UAS and seatbelt to the base, but most of the time they are only approved for use with a seatbelt or a UAS.
Although it takes a bit of muscle and a little coordination to install the base with your vehicle’s shoulder and lap belts, it is a relatively straightforward process. After threading the vehicle’s seatbelt through the base’s belt path, you must lock the seatbelt off with the blue “lock off” button, after which you must buckle it. As you tighten the belt, you press the base into the seat of the vehicle and close the lock off, making sure that the belt is flat against the lock off. It’s a bit finicky to tighten this belt because the belt slides around a bit as it’s tightened, so it’s more troublesome to install than the UAS. To check if the blue line on the carrier is level with the ground, you’ll have to tighten the belt and make sure it’s taut. As a result, you’ll have to unbuckle the seatbelt, adjust the angle of the base using a pool noodle or tightly rolled towel, and reinstall and check until it’s level again.
You’ll be pleased to know we found Nuna Pipa installation to be relatively straightforward, even if you don’t have a base –perhaps you’re traveling. Before buckling, thread your lap belt through the guides on either side of the carrier. A blue guide is used to wrap the shoulder belt around the carrier’s back. To engage your vehicle’s seatbelt’s locking mechanism, pull the vehicle belt all the way out and press the carrier into the seat while tightening the belt until it is taut and locked. Using a pool noodle or rolled towel under the carrier’s foot to adjust the angle helps it sit at a correct angle when the blue line on the carrier is parallel to the ground.
It is also important to check that you have tightened the seatbelt enough for the car seat to be properly secured in case of a crash. You should be able to move the base (or the carrier if you are installing without a base) no higher than one inch side to side. Your belt needs to be tightened more if it does.
Trying before buying is important. We found that there were various incompatibility issues between cars and car seats, or you may find it difficult to lift your child into an automobile seat. SIZES AND WEIGHTS
Despite its weight of 7.9 pounds, the Pipa is one of the lightest carriers we tested, and it has an ergonomic handle to help manage the load. one of the narrowest infant car seats we tested, the Nuna Pipa is just 17.5 inches wide, which means you can install other seats or add a few more passengers with reasonable ease. The weight of the carrier is also something to consider—after all,A carrier’s weight is also a factor to consider. You’ll be lifting it and dragging the baby around in it. HARNESSES FOR SAFETY
Nuna Pipa’s five-point safety harness is very easy to use, and everyone feels strongly that it is secure. That’s the unanimous view of our editors and parent testers. Our editors weren’t surprised that parents said the harness fits comfortably against their child because the cushioning on the shoulder pads is really nice and plush. (If your child doesn’t like the shoulder pads, you can remove them and use the car seat without them.)
The harness buckle can be undone easily, but it does take two hands since you need to gently squeeze it and pull out the buckle tongues (unlike some other car seats, the buckle tongues don’t just shoot out when you press the release button). In contrast, the chest clip is easily secured and released with one hand. Pulling the tether at the front of the base will tighten the straps and pressing the adjuster will loosen them.
It’s a piece of cake to remove and reinstall the harness (if you have to clean it, for example). As your little one grows, you’ll need to adjust the shoulder strap height, but that’s pretty straightforward for car seats for infants. In warmer weather, the plush shoulder pads can be removed and the car seat can still be used properly without them.
Adjusting the straps and getting your baby into and out of the seat is a breeze. This is a good-looking and durable shirt that I would recommend to anyone. An excellent product all around!“ -Jenny, mother of a son
FRAMES AND FABRICS
Its carrier might be lightweight, but its shell offers side-impact protection and a heavy-duty construction. All of our testers found the frame and fabric quality to be excellent. Micro-knit fabric and padded support make up the seat. An infant insert offers additional support for babies under 11 pounds, as do the removable shoulder pads on the harness. Even though the carry handle is ergonomic, one tester noted that it would be a bit easier for smaller moms to reach across the carrier if there were no buttons on both sides of the handle.

COMFORT FOR A BABY
The Nuna Pipa car seat’s padding makes it a comfortable ride for little ones, according to users who tested it. It’s difficult to predict whether your baby will love his car seat or hate it ferociously (and let you know it). Their babies’ heads and necks were also supported by the padding. Furthermore, our editors loved the softness and plushness of the cushioning.
In the night, you should shield your baby from changing light or the sun. Nuna Pipa’s canopy protects children effectively from the sun, so they can sleep peacefully. This car seat really stands out with its zip-out “Dream Drape” extension, which zips out from the pocket on the canopy, extends out over the carrier, and is secured to the base with magnetic fasteners. A mesh window and breathable mesh sides mean your baby won’t overheat. The Velcro closure can cause a rude awakening for your snoring tot.
Despite my aversion to car seats, I absolutely love this one. As far as a car seat for children is concerned, Nuna has thought of everything that could be needed. It is lightweight and super easy to install; the canopy is large enough for baby to snooze without getting too much sun on her face.” -Kristina, mother of one
